People with better IT training in the logistics industry could help deliver improvements for the shipping sector, it has been claimed.
People with better IT training could be brought into the sector as a way of helping shipping companies to transport goods in a more cost-effective manner.
Ed Holden, editor in chief of Manufacturing & Logistics IT Magazine, has suggested that the success of the shipping industry relies heavily on the IT skills of those working in logistics and explained that the logistics sector needs to grow at pace to keep up with the shipping industry.
He warned that failures in IT systems could prove expensive for shippers and as a result businesses need to work quickly to employ people with the IT training and skills necessary to boost the developments within the world of logistics.
An annual report by Capgemini recently found 88 per cent of surveyed shippers and third-party logistics providers say they feel IT-based logistics services are important.
