River cruise company offers online IT training

Travel agents are to get online computer training to keep them up to speed with river cruises and boost their IT skills.

The distance learning tool is being provided by Viking River Cruises as part of its new microsite, according to travelweekly.co.uk.

Aimed at travel agents, the site will include social networking capabilities, news feeds, useful information and an image archive - all of which will be useful tools for travel agents once they have completed the online computer training.

Viking River Cruises UK managing director Wendy Atkin-Smith explained that the site should be ready for use by summer.

"We hope to have it up and running in May or June; we don't want to launch it piecemeal," she told the website.

"The second phase will be images - it would be lovely to give agents the chance to upload photos."

According to Viking River Cruises' website, the company is the world's leading river cruise line.

It offers river cruises in Europe, Russia and China and provides luxury travel on an all-inclusive basis.
