Seeking the help of recruitment agencies could benefit many people seeking work in the current economic climate, according to one organisation.
The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (Rec) said that recruitment agencies could help people to find a new job better suited to their skills and preferences.
Anne Fairweather, head of public policy at Rec, said that agencies had a detailed knowledge of many organisations and were in a good position to offer advice to help people zero in on the right job for them.
Ms Fairweather said: "Recruitment agencies are often better placed at matching a candidate to a company as an individual left on their own may not know enough about that company."
She added that people could use agencies to learn the most they possibly could about an organisation.
Agencies could also be able to suggest IT training courses that could be relevant for the development of IT careers.
Rec has 6,000 individual members and comprises over 8,000 recruitment agencies.
