Those working in the public sector are still some way from being able to fuly utilise all the benefits of Web 2.0 technology, it has been claimed.
David Osimo, director at research company Tech4i2, argued that ground still needs to be covered before government services fully utilise web 2.0 technology, IT Pro reports.
Such claims may highlight the need for further IT training and courses within the public sector.
Mr Osimo argued that there was a large gap between the openness of web 2.0 and government thinking on privacy and security.
However, there are ways in which web 2.0 could be used successfully by government, he pointed out.
Earlier this month, one expert - principal of St Cyres School Brian Lightman - argued that it is important to teach the proper use of technology, so that schoolchildren can take full advantage of the different media available to them.
