Project management skills 'in-demand'

12:33 24th September 2008

Project management is the most in-demand skill among IT workers, according to a new survey.

The poll, conducted by Parity, revealed that 64 per cent of the companies questioned identified programme management as an integral skill for the technology industry.

In addition, the study of 225 IT professionals found that almost 75 per cent of the companies will be investing in project and programme management training for employees in the coming year.

Rick Firth, managing director at Parity, said: "There is clearly demand among IT staff for learning and development in areas that are integral to the success of the business."

However, the study did also reveal that two-thirds of respondents felt that they are too busy at work to undertake as much training as they would like.
