With unemployment set to hit two million by 2009 and increase by around 50 per cent to 3 million within the coming months, a growing number of people may consider re-training so that they are prepared, should the worst happen.
Mirror.co.uk cites the story of Ray Scudamore as proof that losing your job is not the end of the world.
Mr Scudamore lost his job in a cake shop, but after being told that his best chance of getting a job was online he realised he had a major problem.
"I couldn't do that because I was unable to use a computer," he told the website.
"I was really low and felt I'd missed out on educational opportunities, having left school straight after taking my GCSEs."
He then decided to invest in some English, maths and IT training, which landed him a new management job at Tesco in Bristol, where he earns more than one and a half times his previous rate.
There are a range of options available should a person find themselves out of a job as a result of the recession.
Computeach offers over 40 years of experience in IT training and works with its customers to establish the right blend of skills acquisition for the individual.
