A recently launched technology manifesto, which received backing from the major political parties, needs more commitment says analysts Gartner.
Business software firm MicroFocus and professional services company Ernst & Young announced the initiative at a launch at the House of Lords last week.
However, unless the parties do more than spin their current policies, the 'Making BrITain Great Again' initiative could fail to achieve, Gartner's research director David Norton told SC magazine.
What is needed is cross party support to create a manifesto "with bite, which calls for real political action not spin", he commented.
The first principle of the scheme says UK's supply of world-class talent needs to increase - something that could be achieved if more people retrained and put themselves through programming courses
It also says more should be done to attract international technology companies to the UK.
The Irish government has announced five initiatives, including the creation of a high speed Exemplar broadband network in the hope it too can attract investment.
