Networking administration skills continue to be in strong demand, according to a new survey.
The poll, conducted by Robert Half Technology, queried US chief information officers (CIOs) to determine their hiring plans for the coming financial quarter.
Overall, Robert Half Technology found that networking skills were most in demand, with 70 per cent of CIOs citing a need for additional or enhanced expertise in this area.
In addition, the survey suggested that enterprises are having difficulty finding networking talent to address their current growth needs, resulting in a number of unfilled and unaddressed network jobs.
Katherine Spencer Lee, executive director of Robert Half Technology, explained that current financial conditions are having an effect on hiring plans.
She said: "Organisations are directing recruitment efforts toward professionals who can provide essential services - such as help desk and networking - and support the launch of Web 2.0 based functionality."
In September, the security vendor Finjan revealed that hackers are using the latest Web 2.0 technologies to imbed viruses into PDF and Flash files on the web.
