A new scheme has been launched by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) to help boost the opportunities for distance learning and computer training courses.
The BCC has agreed a deal with Foundation Degree Forward (FDF) to promote more training courses that can help employees to gain the skills they need to drive their business forward.
It is hoped the move will help to boost the prospects of businesses during the recession by giving them a flexible and well-skilled employee base to grow their enterprise.
"These training options for businesses couldnt have come at a better time," said John Dunsmure, managing director of BCC Enterprises.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be able to take advantage of new distance learning and e-learning opportunities so that employees can fit their studies in around their work.
"When SMEs face such challenging economic conditions having a skilled and motivated workforce is critical - and may just make the difference between success and failure," Mr Dunsmure added.
Earlier this week, it was reported that a company specialising in management and IT training had launched its own training fund to help companies improve the skills of their workers during the recession.
According to trainingzone.co.uk, Learning Tree International is offering companies a training credit worth £500 to help boost the skill levels of employees.
