More than half of primary school teachers are set to receive IT training this year, a study has shown.
Research by the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) has shown that 59 per cent of teachers questioned as part of its survey will be in receipt of IT training in 2009.
Meanwhile, 55 per cent of teachers in secondary schools said the same.
The numbers have decreased compared with last year, when the figures were 67 per cent and 72 per cent in 2007.
"Whether the reduction in teacher training has led to a lack of teacher confidence in using ICT, or if it is the result of a greater variety of ICT being used in today's classrooms is debatable," commented Ray Barker, director of BESA.
He added that the group supports the technology show BETT, where teachers are given the opportunity to advance their professional development while testing out ICT tools. The next show takes place in January 2010.
