Whether or not the teams behind MPs' homepages should be sent on web design courses is set to be examined with a new competition.
The British Computer Society (BCS) is running an awards programme for the best-designed website dedicated to a politician and is inviting the public to get to the ballot box to elect a winner.
Also involved in judging will be political journalists from the Week and the First Post magazines, who will be assessing the sites on the criteria of design, engagement and accessibility.
Following last years' inaugural awards, the BCS is hoping that there will be evidence in 2008 of MPs taking heed of the findings.
"We also hope that MPs have been spurred on to drive improvements to their own sites by the example of the winners from last year," said David Clarke, chief executive of the society.
Web design courses can encompass training in fundamental areas such as the HTML and XML languages as well as in the range of internet products available.
