The City council of Los Angeles could be about to get rid of its day-to-day software and opt for services provided online.
By signing a contract with search giant Google the city will join Washington D.C. in using the firm's email and word processing facilities, the LA Times has reported.
The current system used in county offices in LA was described by a spokesperson for the mayor as "Pac-Man-era technology".
