The younger generation is tuned into IT technology, reports the Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA UK).

Tech-savvy youngsters will transform the workplace of the future, but the pace of technological progress is such that formal IT training will be necessary to keep up-to-date with new IT advances.

The older generation is also increasingly internet savvy, using the internet regularly and managing a greater amount of their domestic arrangements online.

According to an ISPA spokesperson: "As people get older, their familiarity with using the internet can then be mapped into the working environment, and so they will be more familiar with various methods of using online tools within the workplace."

He added that the unabated tide of technological innovation showed no sign of receding and the continuous developments within the IT sector require appropriate IT training.

In a study by the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA) it was revealed that 55 per cent of European internet users go online daily.ADNFCR-1667-ID-18892630-ADNFCR
