Businesses could be set to embrace IT training as they look to tap into the potential of digital marketing.
Just this week the Royal Mail outlined its plans to make direct mail advertising more cost-effective for businesses.
However, new research suggests that growing numbers of UK employers are seeing online efforts as the way forward, with many thereby likely to need a computer-savvy workforce to make the most of the benefits offered by new technology.
According to the latest study carried out by LinkShare, 45 per cent of marketing leaders feel that mobile advertising will be one of the top areas of growth in the industry in 2011.
Additionally, a majority of those polled said that they intend to move away from old-fashioned mass mailings and more towards better-targeted campaigns, with social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook helping them achieve this.
Also highlighting the potential need for an IT training drive in the UK, a new report from Experian Hitwise has revealed that Britons are increasingly using social media sites for work purposes and not just leisure.
