IT training opportunities have been boosted by the government's recently announced Budget.
Trade association for the IT industry, Intellect, has welcomed the attention Alistair Darling paid to the IT sector in his financial plans.
Furthermore, the organisation has noted that by providing IT training opportunities and expanding this industry the government will generate new jobs and safeguard the UK's economy.
John Higgins, director general of Intellect, said: "We welcome action on science, technology, engineering and maths skills that underpin the knowledge economy.
"We welcome the action to fill in the remaining gaps in broadband provision; we also welcome the new Strategic Investment Fund: all these are part of the picture of the UKs future," he continued.
The government has pledged to expand the skills base of the UK by ensuring that there are extra teachers in this area to fill the 140,000 yearly entrants deficit.
Intellect has 800 company members and is partnered with organisations such as the Broadband Stakeholder Group, Grid Computing Now! and Intelligent Sport.
