IT skills 'essential' to beat competition for jobs

17:07 14th January 2009

A major online portal for jobseekers claimed on Monday (January 12th) that IT skills are essential for people who want to boost their appeal with prospective employers.

ClickAJob.co.uk has expressed its belief that having comprehensive IT training can move candidates ahead of some of their potential rivals as they strive to secure a job.

Furthermore, the company suggests that the process should be a continual one, with both the employed and unemployed endeavouring to keep up with technological advances.

A spokesperson told the website: "You really need proof to demonstrate your capability level with something tangible, like recognised pass certificates.

"You need to keep them up-to-date too - unless you're savvy with the latest software advances, your interview prospects are too easily eclipsed by someone else."

The spokesperson added that the motivation for being proactive about IT training should be that "it's not enough just to say you have these skills".

ClickAJob claims to have more than a million job vacancies at any one time.ADNFCR-1667-ID-18973732-ADNFCR
