Most organisations lack the skills needed to implement business process management (BPM) IT practices, a new report from Gartner has revealed.
The technology analyst identified that a superior BPM strategy will encompass a flexible system where business stakeholders can work with IT to change business process when they are required.
In addition, Gartner disclosed that IT departments need a system of continuous changes in order to keep up with the frequency of process alterations.
The report's author Michele Cantara explained that organisations must address the quality and quantity of skills provided by their external service providers (ESPs), as well as their internal resources.
"Most ESPs do not possess the governance, modelling and change-management skills to effectively foster this collaboration," she said.
Last month, Gartner warned that IT directors need to develop IT strategies that help businesses operate flexibly and adapt to changing markets.
