Two ways in which businesses can survive the economic downturn are cost-saving technology and IT courses for staff.
That is the opinion of experts who have taken part in a new podcast hosted by the British Computer Society (BCS) aimed at advising companies on how best to cope with the pressures facing industry as a whole.
For example, David Pardo, managing director of Pardo Fox, said: "In previous downturns, the companies and technologies that have done well are those in which people can invest to save money."
Earlier this month, John Denham, secretary of state for innovation, universities and skills, launched a consultation on training provided by employers in the workplace.
Mr Denham had called for businesses to allow employees to be able to approach them to ask for training.
