IT professionals looking for work are the most honest on their CVs in the financial services industry, a new study has found.
In a survey of 3,800 applicants, by the pre-employment screening specialist Powerchex, it was discovered that financial IT contractors are the least likely to lie on their CVs in the entire financial services sector.
Only 11.5 per cent of IT workers were discovered to have lied, compared with 19 per cent of brokers and insurers.
IT contractors did however record the largest increase from last year's survey, up 92 per cent from just six per cent in 2007.
The study found that the most common discrepancies on CVs were in dates of employment and academic or professional qualifications.
Lat month, a survey by contractor services provider Giant revealed that IT contractors are favouring long-term contracts over high hourly rates, as the uncertain economic climate begins to affect industries.
