Experts are being encouraged to provide feedback on new proposals that are designed to improve the quality of IT courses delivered, as part of an effort to boost the quality of the UK's IT industry workforce.
Becta, the government agency in charge of using technology in learning, has launched proposals for new delivery of IT services in education and is calling on businesses and other interested parties to provide their views on the plans.
"We expect the approach we are proposing to achieve improvements in value for money, improvements in environmental efficiency and raise the quality of core ICT systems," the agency stated.
It is hoped the plans will deliver highly-skilled people taking on IT careers in the future who have been trained to a high standard and are capable of delivering innovation and improvements to the UK's existing IT industry.
The British Educational Suppliers Association has recently released a report suggesting that teachers need to be given greater IT training to boost their confidence when using IT in lessons.
