Female IT workers seeking more training

19:00 9th December 2008

A significant proportion of female IT workers believe that the need to work on their career management and business skills, it has been revealed.

While the number of women pursuing careers in IT has soared over recent years, new research has revealed that many professionals still feel that they could benefit from additional training in a number of areas.

Specifically, two thirds of those questioned by the website womenintechnology.co.uk admitted that they could benefit from developing better workplace management skills, while around half said that they would like to improve their work/life balance.

Commenting on the findings, the website's director Maggie Berry noted: "It's obvious at all of our events that these women are intelligent and hard-working, but just need help in developing certain skills to allow them to really push their careers in the right direction."

This follows on from a recently-published report from Micro Focus, which argued that businesses are still neglecting some fundamental IT training areas, with many spending money on recruitment rather than developing core skills.ADNFCR-1667-ID-18920294-ADNFCR
