Employment services provider Remploy is to introduce computer training facilities as part of its new assessment package, FastPath.
Developed by ISV Software Ltd, the programme is designed to assess a range of jobseeker skills such as numeracy, customer service skills and typing speed, while offering IT training for packages such as Microsoft Office.
The intention is to help more people into contact centre roles, in response to an increase in the number of positions currently available in the UK.
Tom Smith, commercial partnership manager for Remploy, said: "The [FastPath] package will enable our candidates to improve their skills in these areas and in a range of computer software applications including a comprehensive range of Microsoft Office packages."
He added that the organisation helped more than 1,500 people to gain jobs in the contact centre sector between 2007 and 2008.
The government is looking to have 20 per cent of young people choosing apprenticeships within the space of a decade.
