IT courses could help the elderly to get online and reap the various different benefits available to them.
Recent research by Help the Aged and Age Concern found that many elderly people are missing out on deals because they are only available online.
Commenting on the findings, information manager at Digital Unite Gill Adams said that older generations are missing out because they have not been forced to use the internet for work or education purposes.
"Once people get it they love it, and age is no barrier - we've proved that so many times", she said.
There are a number of reasons why older people may want to take an IT training course to help them get online. The birth of grandchildren can often be a major factor, Ms Adams said, noting that often people will want to see photos that they know exist online, but that they do not know how to get hold of.
