An 11-year-old pupil in Denbighshire, Wales, has been taking an online course in maths to further enhance his prodigious talent in the subject, it has been reported.

According to the Denbighshire Visitor, Cameron Thompson, who is a pupil at Maelor School in Penley, spent his summer holidays undertaking a distance learning course in GCSE maths.

The youngster achieved A* grades in both GCSE maths and advanced maths course, which he took via long-distance learning at Prestatyn High School.

The results demonstrate the advantages of distance learning, as the pupil was able to live at home with his parents while studying for the qualifications.

Older people who are eager to improve their skills may also be interested in taking a distance learning course in a new field, such as an IT training course, to boost their job prospects or even simply as a hobby.

Prestatyn High School is one of many institutions that has a 'virtual' classroom, which it describes as its "Virtual Learning Environment" ad is aimed at providing a wide range of distance learning tools to those looking to boost their qualifications.
