Dudley libraries offering access to training courses

18:02 23rd March 2009

Libraries across the Dudley area are offering access to various courses and services to help people who may have been made redundant and are looking for work.

Internet access is available free of charge, potentially facilitating job-hunts, while information on computer training and a wide range of additional courses is available.

The 13 different libraries across the borough also now offer extended opening times, including four hours on a Sunday, to make life that much easier for people considering a career change.

Councillor Michael Evans, the cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, said: "These are very difficult times for many people, especially those who are looking to find work or struggling financially."

Mr Evans added that visitors do not need to be local residents in order to become a member and take advantage of the various services offered by the libraries.

The Recruitment Society has warned jobseekers to be aware of their online footprint and ensure there is nothing overly embarrassing that could threaten a future application.
