A website has provided a round-up of the key initiatives recommended by the government's Digital Britain report.
Computing.co.uk states there will be a £120 million three-year Digitial Economy Programme for research and IT training, which aims to prepare the country for the next 20 years of digital developments.
Included in this will be three research hubs, at a cost of £12 million each and an investment of £8.5 million into the National Skills Academy for IT.
This academy will hope to provide IT training for 10,000 IT professionals in the first three years of the scheme.
Meanwhile, £2.7 million will be given to the e-Skills UK Revitalise IT project, which will encourage the take-up of IT courses at degree level.
Finally, £23 million will be devoted to helping small businesses take advantage of technology to improve and transform their company.
Digital Britain was published last week by communications minister Lord Stephen Carter.
