Investing in facilities that enable employees to work at home or in locations other than the office could help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) grow, claims a specialist body.
Employees with the right computer training who have the option of working from home can be more content and more productive, and this also means they are more likely to stay with a company on a long-term basis, according to remote access provider GoToMyPC.
Andrew Millard, director of e-commerce for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at GoToMyPC, said remote working resources are worth the initial investment and are easy to use.
He added: "For some SMBs, the introduction of flexible working policies can be challenging, but those businesses that deploy flexible working and home working can thrive."
Nearly three-quarters of IT managers said their staff are more productive as a result of using remote working practices, according to research from independent research body Kelton and remote connectivity provider LogMeIn.
