Computer training to be available at Lyric Hammersmith

09:33 21st May 2009

Computer training will be one of the many resources available at a new centre scheduled to be built onto the Lyric Hammersmith in west London, reports thestage.co.uk.

The centre will be opened by the end of 2011 and will cost £15 million, a portion of which has already been provided by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

A computer suite will be part of the new building and will be provided alongside a recording studio, dance studios and a small cinema as the Lyric looks to expand its Creative Learning department by offering education for diplomas, GCSEs and additional qualifications.

Jessica Hepburn, executive director at the Lyric, told the website: "The Lyric has always been at the forefront of developing work for young people with complex needs and while we will be openly accessible to all young people, that will remain at the heart of what we do."

In related news, Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, recently announced a fund of £23 million to help Londoners into work through a range of training programmes.
