Many adults are enjoying the social benefits of seeking IT training, as well as the positive elements of using courses to boost their skill sets, according to a new report.
With the economy still in recession, many employees are actively pursuing IT training to safeguard their jobs and improve the chances of finding a new career as job security becomes increasingly uncertain, reports the Evening Post.
Computer training courses can also be a social benefit as they provide an opportunity for like-minded individuals to meet up regularly and potentially work together to expand their learning.
Brian Adams, a 76-year-old who attends a group run by West Notts College at Ravenshead Library, told the paper: "I love going there for the social side mostly. I go up there a few times a week. I think at my age it's important to have something to keep the brain going and would definitely recommend it to anyone."
Mr Adams added that he has attended a variety of computer training courses, developing skills in areas including word processing and spreadsheets.
In related news, the British Computer Society has announced it will be launching a foundation certificate in Green IT.
