Forth Valley College in Scotland has been declared college of the year in recognition of the high level of training offered by the institution.
The college won the accolade at the Business to College Awards with its partner, Ineos Manufacturing Scotland, in response to its Engineers of the Future programme, which packages academic learning alongside practical experience over a five-year study period.
Also a factor was the train technology programme, which enables students to learn about evolving train technology through the college's Glasgow-based maintenance depot, reports the Stirling Observer.
Dr Wendy Livingstone, associate principal for business and innovation at Forth Valley College, told the paper: "The college is highly committed to listening to the needs of the organisations we work with and taking a training approach which fulfils these requirements and helps the business to develop and grow."
Stronger relations are sought between Scottish colleges and businesses through the awards ceremony, which forms part of the Scotland's Colleges Mean Business campaign.
North Scotland Industries Group recently formed a partnership with various training specialists in a bid to stimulate skill set development in the country, according to the Ross-shire Journal.
