Children in Need is to use a portion of the money raised during last year's televised appeal to help young people in Scotland find training and employment, reports the BBC.
The Glasgow charity Tomorrow's People will receive a grant taken from a multi-million pound fund, much of which was raised through the televised appeal last November and which will add to almost £15 million already spent helping 96,000 young people throughout the UK.
Providing assistance for young people as they seek work could also encourage them to pursue IT training and gain additional skills that will help them find stable jobs.
David Ramsden, chief executive of BBC Children in Need, told the corporation: "Our appeal income so far stands at £36 million, which is level with last year and a testament to the generosity and commitment of everyone who got involved, even in these difficult times."
Thousands of organisations have applied for funding and over £2 million will be allocated to various organisations that work with disadvantaged children in Scotland.
In related news, the Nottingham Evening Post reports that many people seek computer training to expand their skills and experience the social contact on offer.
