Careers events could be significant for a wide range of individuals looking to explore the employment options available to them, according to one organisation.
Bruce M Birchall, exhibition director of Careers and Jobs Live, an event which ran at the ExCel centre in London on April 19th and 20th, said the fair may have helped people learn about jobs they would not otherwise have considered.
Unemployment is rising steadily across the UK and according to the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, the government has announced investment of nearly £27 million in a bid to stem the problem.
Mr Birchall said: "They (members of the public) will have an idea of what they want to do, but they will actually come and find something totally different, which they never considered as an opportunity for them."
He added that Careers and Job Live offered up to 100 different stands for visitors and could convince many to pursue a career change.
According to the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, the government has provided nearly £12 million to provide skills training for people who have been without a job for over six months.
