Businesses could turn to IT skills and software during recession

An IT expert has claimed that the recession could prompt small and medium-sized enterprises to invest more in IT software and training.

Cynthia Lers, director of investor relations at Sage, said that attempts by struggling companies to minimise costs could prompt them to replace employees with digital resources.

Expenditure on IT training software could appeal to businesses that are feeling the impact of the recession as replacing people with computerised systems could seem a more efficient and financially-savvy move.

Ms Lers commented: "Now, businesses have become reliant on software and using it. They are more likely to turn to software to get the headcount and run businesses with more IT."

IT expert Bob Hughes from Gartner has urged IT professionals to work with the business sector to help it maintain a competitive edge during the current international economic downturn.ADNFCR-1667-ID-18925687-ADNFCR
